Update? Heck, too much work.

Since last, things picked up towards election day (That was yesterday. yeap, yesterday. I'm in Brazil) and from 7 I went to 9, 11, and finally 15-hr shifts.

Overtime pay is good. As long as you are not too tired to use it.

We have a new mayor. He promises to continue from where the old mayor stops. If he does, thats great, mr. Andrea Pucinelli was the first decent mayor we had in a few decades.

I work for the Electional Justice Court of Brazil, a branch of Federal Justice that regulates elections.

We have the Electronic Vote Collector machine, the magnificant gadget that started the era of No Fraud Elections.

But people, people always find ways to complain. The voters complain about having to stand in line to vote. Well, excuse us, if we can not take all your votes at once. Gee, one day every TWO years and people bitch and moan like they were being tortured...

And they better not get me started on "its always the same crooks". Heloo? YOU elect the crooks. You spend 4 years bitching about them. And next election you vote for the crooks again...

Here, rub this jalapeno in your eye. I am sure it will hurt, and instead of not doing it again, you will rub the other eye when the first one stops aching.

The people summoned to work at the day bitch and moan too. We do our best to make their burden as light as possible. Like this: every election, they had to go around town on average 25 kilometers to return the EVC machine and election materials at the processing center. And stand in line for as long as an hour.

This year, we redistributed the processing center, creating 25 in-city 'stations' where they could go, having now to move on average only 2 kilometers. It did more than triple our workload with extra transportation issues and coordination logistics, and we were at least dismayed to find people bitching at having to wait 15 mins in line...

More to come, maybe tonight.
