Last wednesday, the 11th, big boss went to do a speech/presentation at St. Francis Church Community Hall.
I was designated to set up and operate our datashow projector for her.
I arrive at the place, assemble the system, test it. All okay.
I turn it off, to wait for the time of the presentation.
When I try to turn it on again... surprise, it will not work. I tell the boss the datashow system is on the fritz. She asks me if I did not test it, I tell her that I did, just 15 mins ago, and all was okay. She has to make her presentation without projecting the MS Power Point slides.
Thursday, I am helping wiht some remote data transmission tests, so, I am off-site all day.
Friday, my boss comes chew on me... why? The Old Cow chewed him, saying:
1 - the datashow failed because I did not test it (straight out lie);
2 - that I refused to fix it (d'oh, I am not even ALLOWED to try it. if a machine is on the fritz, we have to send it to the licensed tech support guys);
3 - that I was rude at her (sure, rude, because I said 'there is nothing we can do, sorry');
4 - that I did similar blunders before, insisting I am reckless and lazy.
The BITCH is upset because her presentation was not as bright shiny cute as she wished, and wanted my ass for it.
I told my reasons, explained the situation to my boss, and mentioned I have witnesses that I did nothing of what the Old Cow is saying I did.
He hints at possible administrative sanctions if I do not confess and repent.
I remind him that the four complaints raised are a mix of lies and over-reacting.
He insinuates some people have complained about my 'attitude'.
I ask for names and situations. And make it very clear, I am not going to bow to ghostly, vague accusations just because the Big Boss Old Cow is after a scapegoat. Gotta love working for the government. They need PROOF of wrongdoing to shaft me. They have nothing, and both the Old Cow and my boss know that.
All in all, it was a VERY tense friday. Slightly sactisfatory was the knowledge that they can not DO anything but look me sourly.
Gah, I want a new job. Those people suck.
